  • This 2-hour workshop takes the participant on a tour of the basics of fingerprint statistical models and then applies that knowledge to real case examples. We will generate some likelihood ratios for these actual cases. We will discuss what these statistics mean (and what they don’t). We will discuss methods for communicating these statistics in reports. Lastly, we will explore communicating these statistics to jurors, judges, and laypeople.

03/29/2020 Update:

In light of the current situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID19) we have made the decision to cancel this years conference due to be held in Lisbon from June 22nd to 24th 2020. We did not take this decision lightly but felt that it was the right decision for the safety and well-being of our members and the wider community. With our co-host tremendous support, we will be able to host the 2021 event in Lisbon instead.

We will be delivering a series of webinars over the next few months and more details of these will be available soon. If you are interested in presenting a webinar please let us know (wuteresa@gmail.com).

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the European Chapter of International Association for Identification (EU IAI) and our conference co-host, Portugal National Crime Lab, you are invited to attend our 5th annual educational conference. It will be held on June 23-24 at the Judicial Police Headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal.

The conference will bring together specialists, forensic suppliers and academics from across Europe representing a wide variety of forensic fields. The presentations will introduce current themes in the field and provide delegates with the opportunity to discuss and develop ideas with colleagues from across Europe. Dr. Glenn Langenburg will be our keynote speaker this year. In addition, we will have a special master class on Facial Comparison on June 22nd. This class will be led by Irene Revestido Rivera, Interpol face examiner expert.

The EU IAI is an organisation that is actively promoting education and partnerships within Forensic Science across the continent.
