Dear Fingerprint/Biometric Identification System Managers or Leaders,
AFIS or ABIS management is becoming more and more complex. The demands to managers of these systems like connecting to PRUM,PCSC, new EU initiatives on EURODAC, VIS, SIS, EEES but also impact of ISO 17025 accreditation to systems and new modalities like FACE are challenging. On top of that we need to address issues like “benchmarking or not?”, test sets and databases, “(full) lights out or not?”, how to manage risks, more work with the same experts, privacy concerns about Automated Facial Recognition etc etc.
After some discussions with different colleagues, the European Division of the International Association for Identification (EU IAI) has asked me, in December 2018, to chair a day of masterclasses to discuss and share best practices related to managing Automated Fingerprint/Biometric Identification System (AFIS/ABIS). As the chair of this EU IAI initiative I would like to invite you to the this interesting opportunity to learn from each other on June 12, a day prior to the upcoming EU IAI annual conference which will take place from June 13-14 at the Sound Garden Hotel, at Warsaw in Poland. During this day of masterclasses the aim is to discuss key issues related to managing biometric systems, sharing respective agencies best practices which could make positive contribution to our profession and our respective agencies. To only attend the masterclasses, a registration fee of 75 euro is required. Due to limited seating, attendance to this class is on a first come first served basis and only available for government employees with ABIS/AFIS management responsibilities.
